Muslin cloth is an absolute substitute for cheesecloth, because to their similar texture. You may use medical gauze for the same purpose. However, you may have to fold it in several layers for achieving a desired effect, as medical gauze is very loosely woven with large hole sizes.

Also other types of cotton fabric will work as a substitute. If you’re ingenious you can use  bandana, flour sack towel, pillowcase, cloth napkin,scrap of fabric, plain cloth diaper   or jelly bag to refine foods or contain little packets of herbs.

Za’atar spiced mushrooms – this delicious Arabic appetiser is ideal for your meal prep routine. It can last in your fridge for up to 5 days and is a perfect companion and side dish to any kind of meat. I especially love combining these mushrooms with rice and curry chicken – a mix of Indian and Arabic cuisine.

 

Ingredients

 

  • 2 tbsp Tbsp Za’atar spice mix recipe on my website
  • 1 tsp cayenne Peppee
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 400 g mushroom
  • 10-12 Olives optional

Instructions

 

  1. Heat up oil in a pan and toss sliced mushrooms in rosemary flavoured extra virgin olive oil.
  2. Sprinkle Za’atar in generous quantity and finished with sprinkle of cayenne pepper and good squeeze of lime.
  3. Serve piping hot may be with side of fresh pita bread
  4. If you like you can add olives too.

Cheese rava cutlet

CHEESE RAVA CUTLET – here we have yet another Indian food recipe. These cutlets will simply melt in your mouth, followed by the creaminess of the cheese. When you pan fry these cutlets, you’ll get a nice golden crisp. Perfect for a light dinner!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 Cup Mother Dairy Milk
  • one Cup Rava/Sooji (Semolina)
  • 2 Mother Dairy Cheese Cubes
  • 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning Mix
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 medium-size onion chopped
  • one tablespoon chopped coriander
  • 1 tablespoon Mother Dairy Butter

Instructions

  • Boil milk in a pan. Add cheese cubes, chopped onion, Italian seasoning and stir to combine.
  • Once the cheese is melted, slowly add the semolina. Continuously stir the mixture. Turn off the heat.
  • Now add the salt, pepper, and coriander. Continuously stir the mixture until it reaches a thick spreading consistency. Set aside.
  • Grease a square tray with butter.
  • Spread the semolina mixture on the tray. Keep the thickness of half inch. Gently press it with the spatula.
  • Set it aside for one hour or till it is set. You can also keep it in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  • Cut the cutlets into the desired shapes using a knife or a cookie cutter.
  • You can serve them as it is or pan fry for a crispy texture. You can store these cutlets in the fridge for a week. Reheat or pan fry whenever required.
  • To pan fry the rava cutlets, heat 2 tablespoon of oil in a pan.
  • Fry the cutlets till they turn crisp from both the sides.
  • Serve Cheese Rava Cutlets warm with your favorite chutney or ketchup.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package (1/4 ounce) quick-rise yeast
  • 2 cups warm water (120° to 130°), divided
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • one pound ground beef
  • 1 envelope taco seasoning
  • one cup refried beans
  • 1/3 cup taco sauce
  • 2 cups shredded Colby-Monterey Jack cheese

OPTIONAL TOPPINGS:

  • Shredded lettuce
  • Chopped tomatoes
  • Crushed tortilla chips
  • Sliced ripe olives, drained
  • Diced avocado
  • Sour cream
  • Salsa

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°. Combine 2-1/2 cups flour, cornmeal, salt and yeast. In another bowl, combine 1-1/4 cups warm water and honey. Gradually add dry ingredients; beat just until moistened. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough. Do not knead. Cover; let rest 20 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, in a small skillet over medium heat, cook and stir beef, crumbling meat, until no longer pink; drain. Add taco seasoning and remaining water. Cook and stir until thickened, about 2 minutes.
  • Press dough to fit a greased 13×9-in. baking pan. Combine beans and taco sauce; spread over dough. Top with beef mixture and cheese. Bake on a lower oven rack until crust is golden and cheese is melted, 15-18 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes. If desired, serve with optional toppings.

  • ¾ cup thick teriyaki sauce such as Soy Vay Veri Veri Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet preheat 1 teaspoon sesame oil over medium-high heat for about 1 minute. The sesame oil adds great flavor to the dish, but if you don’t have any you can substitute with canola or vegetable oil.
  2. Add beef, onion, garlic and ginger to the skillet. Cook, breaking up the meat as you stir, until the beef is no longer pink and the onion is tender (about 5-7 minutes). Drain, and return meat to skillet.
  3. Stir teriyaki sauce into the beef mixture. Bring to a low simmer and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, just until sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Serve over rice, in tortillas, or in lettuce wraps.
