Chicken tikka masala is made of roasted marinated chicken in a curry and creamy curry sauce. It is popular in India, from where it spread to the United Kingdom and rest of Europe. If you want to make vegan masala, just use tofu instead of chicken and a replacement for regular yogurt.


  • 200g chicken
  • 150 g of natural yogurt 
  • 1/2 squeezed lemon
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tsp ginger chopped
  • 2 teaspoons of garam-masala
  • 0.5 tsp salt


  • 2 teaspoons oil
  • two teaspoons butter
  • 1 onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tsp ginger chopped
  • 0.5 tsp turmeric ground
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • one tsp garam-masala
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 150 ml cream vegan alternative
  • 300 g tomato sauce

Chicken tikka masala


  1. Cut the chicken into diced pieces and place in a bowl. Add yogurt, lemon juice, garlic, ginger, garam masala and salt and mix well. Leave for at least 20 minutes in the refrigerator.
  2. Then fry the meat
  3. For the sauce, sauté the diced onions and add ginger and garlic. Roast everything well and add the other spices. Add the tomato sauce and cook until everything becomes very viscous. Add cream and chili.
  4. Finally, add the meat again and simmer for a further 10 minutes on a low flame. Basmati rice fits best with this dish. As a topping chop coriander and peanuts and sprinkle over it.
